Goodbyes, Playdate, and Birthday Party

Sorry for the lack of updates - we've been pretty busy for the past few days. Thursday was the last day of daycare for Carter at Ready, Set, Grow. I'm not sure Carter understands, but it was quite an emotional goodbye for me. We went around to all the rooms and said goodbye to all his friends and all the teachers and workers he knows. Emma and Baylor almost tackled him, and they fought over who could hug him the most! Funny thing though - Drake was so busy playing with his train set that he didn't want to get up and say goodbye or take a picture with Carter. We finally convinced him, but he wasn't too happy!

Yesterday (Friday), we had a fun playdate at the Jones' house. In attendance were: Holly + Evan and Anna (Andrew was gone with his teacher), Amy + Hayden and Caroline, Hope + Ella, and Mary + Evan. The kids played and watched movies, but there were quite a few meltdowns! We left kind of early, but not before we had some absolutely delicious snacks!!! I can't wait to try out a few of the recipes at home.

We went home from there and took a nap. After naptime, I went up to find Carter with lots of interesting things in his bed:

This morning, I had a hair appointment so Alan was home by himself with both boys for a while. I heard him ask Carter if he wanted to wear big boy underwear. Yep - you heard me correctly - he attempted the first day of potty training when he was here by himself with both kids. Kind of a big project if you ask me, but Carter did very well! I was so proud - he first pooped in the potty right away, and then after a couple of accidents, he tee-teed too! Yay! He got a treat each time so he kept wanting to go sit on the potty so he could get a treat. Not sure I should have started that!

Tonight, we ate dinner with my family (Nan, Cheryl, Papa and Gigi) at Up the Creek. Nan is turning 80 on Monday, so we all went to celebrate. Happy birthday, Nan! Carter was up to his usual antics, but behaved fairly well for a wild 2 year old boy. He kept wanting to go look at the fishies - every 5 minutes or so :) He was very hungry, but he ate everyone's food except his own! He also ate almost all of Gigi's dessert, and insisted on feeding the rest to her.

All is quiet here now - Carter is in bed and Charlie is trying to go to sleep. Alan and I may actually get to watch TV together before we go to bed!
