Charlie's first birthday party!!!

We had originally scheduled Charlie's first birthday party for May 30th, but my dad and several others could not make it. Therefore, we changed the date and time of the party to June 6th at 4 p.m. Leave it to good ol' Alan to leave out the time change, however... Grandpa, Grandma Sherrie, and Tristan showed up at the original time (11:00) and called while we were at Baby Millie's first birthday party. Carter had just gotten in the pool, so Alan went over to our house for a little while and then came back and got us so that we could spend time with them (they decided not to wait around all the way till 4:00). I felt SOOO bad and hope they can forgive us for the mix-up! Carter and Charlie got to open presents from them and had fun playing.

When the party time finally arrived, we had lots of guests - most of our great family and friends were able to come. We served dinner: salad, lasagna, chicken tetrazzini, and herbed monkey bread (a Paula Deen recipe and must try). The theme of the party was dinosaurs, and the boys wore their matching, custom made dinosaur outfits. They are cute, even if I do say so myself ;)

The big kids ate on the screened porch. Notice the personalized cups - these were part of the party favors. Charlie loved his giant dinosaur balloon :)After dinner, we opened presents.Charlie kept looking up at Mommy :)"Yay! I got so many great presents!!!""But the tissue paper is really my favorite!"
After presents, it was time for cake!
Charlie checked out his smash cake...
And then, he REALLY demolished it!

Most close family (i.e. parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts) got Carter some big brother gifts so he wouldn't feel left out and jealous at the party. That was very thoughtful and he loved all his gifts! Here he is showing off the scooter and water toy that Mommy and Daddy got him.

Happy Birthday Charlie! I'm so glad your mommy finally updated the blog! :) (I guess I'll cut you some slack since you were in the hospital for a couple of days!) We had a great time at the birthday party and everything was fabulous - as usual!
Carter looks like such a big boy in the last picture!!! Glad he got a scooter - he can come over and ride scooters with the boys anytime!
Great update on Charlie's special day!
