Good Dog

Beasley has been going to obedience classes for the past 6 weeks, and last Thursday was his graduation night. If you are wondering, we could only send one dog (unless we got a babysitter every week so we could each handle one dog) so we chose Beasley since he's dominant. He is really a natural and likes to obey, but it's too bad we haven't had much time at home to do the assigned homework each week. We have kept all the sheets, so hopefully we'll be able to go back through the lessons with both of them in the near future.
They played games for prizes, but Beasley is the slowest, most laid back puppy ever so he certainly didn't win any races (he slowly sauntered over when Alan called him excitedly, and came in last place - ha!). Here they are doing an egg on a spoon race. He was sabotaged by Oakley a little, who kept running into him.

The whole class - Jack, Beasley and Oakley. Do you know how hard it is to get 3 dogs to sit in the right direction and all look at the camera? Here are Beasley's two prizes he won. The Greenie was for holding "focus" the longest (he was still going strong when everyone else was doing their own thing - he could hold focus all day). The other one was for a tie with Oakley on who could get to the down position the fastest. They tried having a tie-breaker a couple of times, but they always landed at the same time.
Here is the squeaky toy he picked out from a big bin.

I think Beasley really enjoyed going to class and we might consider doing other classes, if we have more time to really devote. Overall, both dogs are pretty obedient as far as puppies go...

Congratulations to Beasley the graduate!

Congrats, Beasley! Can't wait to see what all you accomplish when your parents read the material from the classes and practice it with you at home! HA!!! :)
