First day of school! First day of School!

Did you get the Nemo reference in the title? The boys were so excited for their first day of school this year. Carter is in Mrs. Kathryn's class, which is the Bears class. Charlie is in Mrs. Donna and Mrs. Becca's class, which is the Tigers class. Do you see the theme in their outfits? :)

Charlie has a lot of friends in his class, and he loves it. Mrs. Donna told me the only thing they have trouble with is that he follows and copies what others do. So if they do something they shouldn't, he copies. Uh-oh!

Carter is having to make new friends this year, because there are so many 4-year-old classes and he only knew a few people that were put in his class this year. He seems to be having a great time though, and never wants to come home when it's time to leave! Mrs. Kathryn puts a big emphasis on reading and writing, and learning in general. He's learning to write his letters correctly - uppercase vs lowercase (and on lined paper, in the correct space), spelling words, and he knows all his vowels. Also, he has stayed on "Green" every day so far! We're off to a great start.

Carter is also taking piano lessons. He LOVES it, and is doing so well! I'm astounded that he has learned all different types of notes (whole, half, quarter, eighth, dotted half), and has learned C, D, and E so far. He can even play a few little songs, paying attention to both rythm (with different types of notes mixed in) and the different notes on the keyboard! His lessons are group lessons, and he takes with one other boy. Their teacher is Mrs. Erika and she is so sweet and cute. They also do crafts, games, and other fun things during their lesson - it all seems very age appropriate and fun.
