The theme was all about trains... Charlie LOVES trains and has been making the "choo-choo" sound for a while now. He wore a smocked brother shirt with trains on it, and matching red shorts. Carter wore his appliqued train shirt, and we put out some train toys on all the tables, along with train balloons and paper products.
All the kids had such a fun time playing. It was sooo hot, but luckily our party started at 10, so we were able to leave before it was too unbearable.
Charlie's organic, vegan cake from Whole Foods (due to his allergies) kind of melted... I still thought it was good, though!
For food, we served barbeque with all the fixings (pasta salad, beans, chips, veggies with dip, fruit with dip, apples with apple dip, etc). Along with the cake for dessert, we had popsicles - some slow-drip ones that the kids all loved, and lots of candy. I didn't manage to get a picture of the party favors, but they were little cabooses with a few train-themed items inside (a wooden train whistle, candy, etc).
It was a great day, and Charlie loved all his presents. We love any chance to get together with friends and family, and I'm so glad that (almost) everyone on our invitee list was able to be there and make Charlie's day even more special. Happy birthday, Charlie!
